Sunday Activity:
The Burren Region tour with birds of prey, cave tour and lunch in a thatched roofed pub
Schedule: Sunday 15 April
- 9:30 - Departure from Hotel
- 10:40 - Arrive at Aillwee Cave
- 12:00 - Birds of prey show
- 13:00 - Departure to lunch venue
- 14:00 - Lunch at Moran’s Oyster Cottage
Leaving the city behind for a few hours, INEX has planned to take the group out in the stunning scenery of the Burren Region in County Clare, directly south of Galway. The tour will include all that makes the west coast of Ireland so spectacular, passing by fantastic coastal scenery, the limestone mountains of the Burren region and the breathtaking views around every corner.
The group will be taken on a guided tour of the Aillwee Cave through the beautiful caverns, over bridged chasms and under weird formations. There's even an unexpected waterfall giving a clue to the caves former life as an underground river route. Bones of some previous residents, the now extinct brown bear are also on show.
Following this, the group will visit the Birds of Prey Centre for a dynamic flying display, set against the beautiful Burren Landscape. The birds own personalities are highlighted on the day which gives a very educational view of these amazing creatures. It's a very hands-on experience so come along and experience this great show first hand!
From here, a well earned lunch in the fantastic Moran's Oyster Cottage on the way back to Galway city. A hugely popular pub restaurant located alongside the river where oysters on the menu are harvested, with a side order of their traditional accompanying drink in this region, Guinness! With open fires burning local turf in a thatched cottage, it's not really possible to find a more idyllic Irish lunch venue.
Depending on the weather, there may be a few other stops along the way to get a full flavour of this fantastic region - shoes suitable for a little walking over uneven terrain are advised.
*Note: We have a limited number of places on this Activity and lunch.
